How do I delete a project?

N

I tried to delete it by clicking on the gearwheel on the highlighted project, and then clicking on delete project. Nothing happens! I restarted the computer to no effect.
Any advice would be of great help

Hello Niraj,

after clicking on "delete project", a window should pop up asking for a confirmation, it's possible that it gets blocked so please set Todoist as a trusted site in your browser and disable any script- or ad-blocking plugins.

If this doesn't help, please let me know which browser you're using and tell me if the problem persists in a different browser.

Best regards,
David

I am unable to delete a project. I've enabled pop-ups, but I never get the confirmation window, just the three bars in the upper right corner signifying that it is still processing. I'm using FireFox 12 on my PC, but I have the same problem on Safari on my iMac. Please help.

Hello Kim,

there seems to be a bug preventing the deletion of projects at the moment. I've been able to reproduce it and have forwarded it to the developers.

Thank you very much for reporting it and sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused you.

Best regards,
David

Has this bug been fixed?

Hello Eric,

Yes, it's been fixed in June 2012. You can right-click on a project and choose "Delete project" to delete it (and confirm the deletion to make sure you won't also delete sub-projects below it).

David

Hmmmm. May 2014 I can't delete a project using instructions above - right click brings up a menu that allows almost anything BUT delete. ???? Under that project I also don't get checkboxs in front of new tasks, though I do under other projects. ???? again. This is my first day using Todoist and II am discouraged. Is this still a known bug or is it possible I did something to cause it?

Hi Toni,

To delete a project, follow these steps:

Step 1: Hover on a project and select the three-dot icon
Step 2: Select "Delete project" option

I've included images to make it more easy to follow. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Regards,

Clyde

The 3-dot icon was one of the first things I tried. No "Delete project" listed. What's listed is: Add, Edit, Share, Email, Archive, and Leave. What is very odd, discovered only when I went back after receiving your instructions, is that none of my other projects have this last option "Leave" - they do in fact have "Delete" instead. So I went to the project I want to delete again and chose "Leave" and the project was deleted.

Do you have any explanation for this?

Hi Toni,

Yes. You'll get the "Leave" option if you're on a shared project. This means they you want to leave the project that you joined.

Clyde

Hello,

I am having problems deleting projects, I created it, invited others, they
accepted. I now want to delete the project and R click only gives me 'leave'

I see the png images, though they don't match what I see.

PC at home, MAC at work.

Thanks.

Hi,

That is how shared projects work, once shared you can not delete it.
