Completed tasks list

B

I would really love to be able to view a list of completed tasks ordered and marked by the date they were completed. I currently update tasks I complete with today's date before checking them complete, but the above would be far better. (also being able to export that list)

I second this. Being able to review my completed tasks would make much easier to fill out my timesheets. Also, sometimes I forget if I did something for a project, being able to see completed tasks would allow me to confirm I've done it.

This is also important for me to keep track of URLs that I have accumulated as tasks during the project. Right now it seems you have to bring them one by one into a bookmarking software. Licorize is tempting because of this.

This is one of the things I am looking for as well. I need to be able to easily work out what I have done over the last week when I review my work - and plan for the following week

Hello,

thank you all for your feedback, the greater the demand for a particular feature, the higher the chance and priority for implementing it so you're welcome to share your needs for new features :)

This would make a big difference for me also. I very much prefer Todoist to the other web-based task lists, but not being able to see completed tasks is a deal breaker for me.

Yes being able to see completed tasks from the past week would be of great assistance to me as I primarily use todoist at work. I love the other tracking features!

This is one of the key benefits to promote how effective ToDoist is - showing how much productivity has increased. This could even be used to map out time spent on projects, creating productivity pie charts, etc.

+1. This is the only thing missing from Todoist that I need: To query after @labeled tasks that are marked 'done'. Being able to query after completed tasks within a date range would also be helpful.

I can toggle on completed tasks in the project view, but what I need to see are the tasks I set as goals week after week. Being able to review my progress on short-term and long-range goals is immensely helpful.

Seeing the date completed, even if it's not a sortable list, would be a very nice feature.

But now, as it's done, Im missing "bulk delete" option. You can delete it only one by one.

Hello Przemek,

thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it and will consider adding a "delete all" option in future development.

For now, you can still delete all completed tasks in each project by clicking "Delete completed" in the bottom-right corner of each task list.

"Delete completed" works for me and could be enough if it only worked. What I mean, these deleted tasks are stlll shown on "xxx completed tasks" list. So the only way to delete them is to use crossbar on this page and delete them one by one, which is highly inconvenient.

@David, any news about it? I have like "774 completed" right now. This feature - as it is now - is only annoying.

Przemek,

although I can't give you any timeframe, we will surely implement such feature in the future.

Please note that the amount of the tasks on this list shouldn't influence the performance of Todoist and these tasks do not show up on any other views or query results.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

David

It will be very helpful to be able to view the completed tasks along with the pending tasks.

Hello Pranay,

With Todoist Premium you can see the full history of your completed tasks sorted by date. You can filter this list by labels or projects and even see a graphical representation of your productivity.

On a free account, you can see your completed tasks by clicking on the "Get completed tasks" link at the bottom of every task list in any project.

David

Okay, so I created a "dummy" task, instantly deleted it (ie ticked it as "complete"). And *then* I could see an option to list a few other completed tasks.

Is there some better way to see completed tasks??

Nick,

The "Get completed tasks" link at the bottom of your task list in any project is always visible even if no tasks have been completed yet, but in addition to this option you can view the full history incl. all completion events of every recurring task by clicking on the "# Completed" link in the top-right corner.

David

Hello David,

Okay, the "get completed tasks" link only appears at the bottom of a *project* list. My default view is "7 days" -- with no "get completed" link. So that's fine -- now that I know :-)

And the "# completed" link is good.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Any update on a full list of completed tasks? When I do a progress report, it would be much easier to list all completed tasks by project instead of having to click each project then click to show completed tasks.

Thanks so much!

Hello Angela,

We do not have any updates on this as of now. We do not like to give any dates or timeframes in support of a better product, not being worried to meet deadlines.

Thanks for the interest,

Brendon.

Hey there,

I'd love to have the ability to filter for completed tasks just I can filter for overdue tasks.

This would make it much easier to use todoist for weekly reports and more.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi gang,

First time posting here, and I'm exciting to see so much staff input!

Is there a way to modify the completion date/time for completed tasks?

Why? I just got back from a conference and a lecture trip, and when I'm travelling and not at a computer much, or in the field collecting data especially, I'm not creating tasks and updating them, even though I'm getting a lot done.

The result is that I come home and have to scoff at my Todoist digest that says I've completed no tasks in the last 4 days. I either don't bother documenting what I've done during the trip, or I have a bumper day with 5 times the normal accomplishments.

If I could change the dates for completed tasks it would make my history a lot more accurate and thus informative as I try to identify my good and bad patterns.

Thanks for listening! Keep up the good work.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your feedback. We may consider adding such option in the future, but for now, if you're taking any mobile phone with you during a trip, you can use our apps completely offline, check off tasks in them and when you connect at some later point, everything will be synced with the correct completion dates according to when you've checked them off.

David

Thanks, David. I do unless it's wet work, and I have service most of the time, so if I'm that bothered I'll just keep track via mobile. Good to know the check off time will be accurate if I sync later. :-)

@David I just tested checking off a task (both on mobile and in browser) whilst offline, and then after reconnecting to internet checked the completed task list. Both had the time of reconnecting to the internet as their time-stamp and NOT when I checked them off.

I'm pretty sure this has always been the case, and I've suggested changing it here https://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/467/

Wow. I can't believe I wasted time on this. For me this is opposite of "no worries".

I really like everything else about this plugin. But I see the fact that it's missing as a critical bug, not nice to have enhancement.

I just am frustrated that after spending time populating it, I now know I can't use it! I would love someone to let me know when completed task list is available. Until then todoist is useless to me.

@Beth, this link -- available in the Todoist Karma menu (you'll need to enable Karma in your account settings), allows you to see all of your completed tasks, by date, filterable by project and/or label.

Hello Beth,

As Lissa said, this feature is already available. This thread was created in 2011 and we've added two options to see completed tasks in the meantime:

1. Within a project by clicking on the circular icon in the bottom-right corner (free option).

2. From the Karma score -> View All Completed to see all completed tasks from all projects at once, filter them by date, project, label and see productivity graphs (Premium option).

David

Sorry I missed that. Thank you (seriously) for explaining. And now I'm not angry any more!

I do suggest that there needs to be an easier way to find this information on support page.

I had gone to help - then support - assuming I would find some FAQ that would tell me where to find this option. (If one exists, I couldn't find it.)

A search led me to this thread. A quick glance at it made me think it wasn't an option. (If I read every single comment, I guess would have realized otherwise.)

Also, I have to say setup for the free view is weird. In order to see those circles it seems I have to be in today or 7 day view. Then I hit circle, look down at now available "add task" and click clock w/arrow icon to see past tasks.

Now I'll have to see whether or not this works for me better than Google tasks. (I think it might.)

Beth,

We're sorry for the confusion, we will create detailed FAQ pages soon.

Regarding the circle icon - to see it you must be within a certain project as it can only be used to view completed tasks within a project.

David

Add my vote to a completed task list that is exportable. Be great if user could select the view completed tasks in each list and then export that full list with completed. The completed tasks rows in the txt output could include a [completed]. Thanks!

I really do not like it that a task disappears as soon as I finish it. I would like it to still show on my list with a line crossed through it. Then I am happy to delete it myself manually. Please could you add this feature.

Hello Sumona,

Thank you for your feedback. We already have this feature for sub-tasks. If you indent a task list under another task, then every sub-task you complete on it, will stay there until you check of the main parent task or if you hold SHIFT while checking a sub-task off.
