Why can't I edit or create reminders on my iphone? At present it looks like I can only do this on my desktop?

M

It seems bizarre that I can't create or edit reminders on my iPhone. I want to be able to do everything on my phone without ever having to go to my desktop, why isn't this possible when the app is supposedly "optimized for iPhone"?

I have premium and expected that would open up the option on my phone.

Hi there,

We do plan on improving reminders on mobile in the near future but for now you are able to enter <remind tod at 2pm> in the task name area when creating a task.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I've just upgraded to Premium hoping I could define quickly push reminders from my iPhone. Having to write: "<remind tod at 2pm>" isn't quick at all.

This feature should have high priority.

Any place where I can vote for this feature?

Hello Jonatan,

We're sorry for the inconvenience. A much better way to manage reminders has been introduced to our Android app recently and we will now port it to our iOS app.

Best regards,
David

Really hoping the new reminder manager includes the option of "snoozing" a reminder. The Priorities app, for example, not only allows users to choose the time of an alert, but also gives the option of setting an "auto-snooze" for the alert as well (can choose from 10 minutes, 15 min's, 30 min's, every hour, every day or every week). It is very quick and easy to use. Any chance this type of feature will be included?

BTW, setting reminders on my phone by following the instructions above (e.g. <remind today at 2:00 pm> does not work for me. It used to work at times, but no longer.

Hello Cliff,

We've had an issue with reminders earlier today, but it's not fixed. Please confirm if the issue persist now, but please use "at 2:00pm" or "at 2pm" (without a space between the time and pm) and see if it helps.

David

Hello,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, we're working on an interface which will allow you to edit your reminders on the iOS app.

For now, you can set a reminder through the app by typing <remind today at 2pm> within the task's name.

David

Any idea when we will be able to add reminder on ipone without typing all that? I tried a test and put <remind tod at 1:50pm> and did not work. Luckily MOST days I have access to computer too but it is annoying to have to go back and forth! I LOVE this app and really hope you can figure this out soon. Not really understanding why it is taking so long. Trying to be patient :)

The typed reminders work for me but it's a long process for a simple task. Even the free todo lists out there let you add a reminder in a 3 stage process
1 type the todo
2 set a date
3 click some sort of clock and choose a time
For a £20 app this should be done.

We're sorry for the delay, we're implemented it to our Android app recently so although we can't give you any exact timeframe on that, we'll surely port this solution to the iOS interface soon.

David

The reminder system still does not work for me. In fact, I missed out on a great opportunity at work a few weeks ago because the Todoist reminder I set did not go off and by the time I remembered myself, there were only two minutes left until the online application was due and I needed at least 10 minutes to complete it (BTW, just tried it again as per your instructions and still not working on my iPhone 4S).

As a result of this missed opportunity, I've actually stopped using Todoist for now and have been relying on another to do app, not because it's better, but simply because it's more reliable and simpler in terms of setting and receiving reminders.

I understand that things like "Karma" may be helpful to some users, but I've been asking for a simple reminder/alert feature (similar to those found in far more basic to do apps) for years now, and it has always frustrated me to see less essential features, like Karma IMO, get attention while a simple and easy to use reminder/alert feature continued to be ignored for so long.

Cliff,

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce it. I've just edited an existing task by adding <remind tod at 22:39> to it (1 minute later) saved, it synced and the next minute I've got a push notification.

We hope this will work for you in the soon to be released version 7.0 of our app.

As for other features - different team members work on different things. Implementing the Karma feature did not involve our main development team. We're working hard on great new features every day and will continue to do so to provide high-quality apps and services using all resources we have at our disposal.

David

Hi David,

Interestingly enough, I just tried it again, and this time it worked. Problem is, I'm following the same steps each time I set a reminder: some times it works; some times it doesn't.

Sigh.

Can't wait for this feature! I need reminders set from the phone. Sometimes it is hours before I can get home to my computer. By then, the task has come and gone.

Hello Melissa,

We're going to implement a UI for this feature in future updates, but for now you can set an absolute reminder through the iOS app by typing <remind tod at 2pm> within the task's name.

Hello Cliff,

Please tell me, are you in a corporate network? We've had reports in the past about push notifications not being delivered due to the configuration of a corporate network.

Also, please make sure you're logged into the correct account when you try this because the account you were logged in when writing this message is not Premium and reminders are a Premium-only feature.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I'm not on a corporate network. Thanks for pointing out that reminders is only for Premium users: I had forgotten about this.

I used to be a Premium user, but decided not to renew my Premium account because the present reminder option frequently didn't work for me and was very unpredictable.

I would love to renew my Premium membership when the new reminder feature is rolled out for iOS users. Any news as to when that might be?

Cliff

Well I was just about to upgrade to premium before I realized this issue.

It's pretty important. I hope its implemented soon. the whole point of a productivity app is to help with productivity, not hinder it. I know we're crying over 16 characters or so but that slows the process down particularly on a mobile device. when I want to brain dump I don't want to have to type more than I have to.

that said, I still may give it a shot. Maybe typing it won't be so bad. The iOS7 picker *is* annoying after all.

Hi, is the reminder feature available on the iOS 7 version by any chance?

Hello,

Unfortunately, the reminder UI is still not available on the iOS 7 version yet, but we'll certainly consider implementing it in future updates of our app.

What??? Since when did:
"We do plan on improving reminders on mobile in the near future"
and...
"A much better way to manage reminders has been introduced to our Android app recently and we will now port it to our iOS app."
and...
"we're working on an interface which will allow you to edit your reminders on the iOS app."
and...
"we're implemented it to our Android app recently so although we can't give you any exact timeframe on that, we'll surely port this solution to the iOS interface soon."
and...
"We're going to implement a UI for this feature in future updates"
and...
"No date as of yet, but we are hoping for it to be fairly soon",
suddenly become: "Unfortunately, the reminder UI is still not available on the iOS 7 version yet, but we'll certainly consider implementing it in future updates of our app."

"Consider it"? After all of the above assurances that iOS users would be able to enjoy the same experience that your Android users enjoy, we're now being told that you'll "consider implementing it" in the future?

Please tell me that that was simply an unfortunate choice of words, and not the reality of this feature's fate. Some of us do not work in environments where 3G and wifi signals are always available, and so the present workaround i.e. typing <remind tod at 2pm> in the task name, doesn't work for us. I've been waiting and checking DAILY for this feature to be implemented...and now it's only something being "considered"? Please let me know if the promised reminder feature is in fact going to be implemented for iOS users...or if it's only under consideration...as this will definitely determine whether I keep waiting or move on to another app.

Cliff,

It is going to be implemented, the previous choice of words may have been not a great one. We just do not have a timeframe as of now, but hopefully soon.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I cannot believe that you guys haven't added this yet, and will probably cancel my premium membership due to the lack of support on this issue.... Your user base has been begging for this obviously for a while looking at all these old threads
