iPhone app responsiveness

U

Since I upgraded to the premium account a couple of days ago the iPhone app has become extremely sluggish. The mobile web app works fine. What happened?

Hello Steve,

Please note that with Todoist Premium, every time you add a task, edit a task or make any other changes, they will be synchronized with the server automatically. On a free Todoist account, that's not the case and the change must be synchronized manually.

It is possible that the synchronization process may add a couple of seconds to the editing process. Please tell me - how much was the performance affected? Is it a matter of a couple of seconds each time you make changes or even a minute? Or do you also experience this issue just when navigating between projects?

We will improve the overall performance soon as we release the next updates of our app.

Best regards,
David

David,

Thanks for the quick response.

At present, when I load or enter information into the app, the display freezes. It's not a crash, because once the app finishes processing, it frees up and allows normal usage until the next command is given. On the average, it freezes for about 15 seconds, but the time can be longer, especially when the app is loading. When I make or change entries, the problem is compounded because there is no visible cue to show that a button has been pressed, so it's a "touch and hope for the best" situation until the app catches up.

This delay is present whether I'm connected via cell signal or wifi. It makes the app unusable for me as it is now.

Thankfully, the mobile version of the web app works as it should. Response there seems a little choppy, but it doesn't freeze.

Steve,

Thank you for the detailed explanation, I will pass it to the developers. We're going to release an updated version of our app soon which will be based on a better structure which should solve performance issues.

Best regards,
David

I'm experiencing the same thing. Since the last update of the iPhone app, it feels very sluggish. I have an iPhone 4 and this version is much slower then the previous versions. The web app and Android app are unaffected.

Same problem here. I don't think the problem is because Steve switched to Premium: I've had a Premium account for quite a while, but after the recent update, the responsiveness of the app on my iPhone 4S has been much, much, slower, to the point where I thought it was frozen.

It is indeed better then the previous version, but on my 4 it's still more sluggish than the versions before the latest 2 updates....... But yes, thank you, at least it's workable again now.....

We are doing a big rewrite of the app - making it use CoreData and full support for the iPad. We can promise you that this rewrite will bring much better performance (both in terms of using the app and the syncing).

We are unsure when this will be done, but we are working around the clock to make this happen.

Thanks for your support.

Best regards,
Amir
