Notifications with no Internet connection

PK

Hello,

It seems to me that the only way to get a notification is to have an internet connection. This is because the only way for Todoist to send e-mail/sms/push is that Todoist servers first obtain the task I added and for this mobile internet connection is needed.
Moreover, in case of email and push I need to be connected to the Internet at the time of receiving the notification. Only SMS notifications don't need Internet connection.

I consider this a major problem, especially that notifications system is a Premium user feature. I shouldn't need an Internet connection at all to set up local notifications: the connection is necessary only to synchronize my task list and to register e-mail/sms/push notifications to the server.

But I should be able to add a reminder and receive it without having to connect to the Internet at all during the whole time (compare this with Any.Do where notifications work whether you're online or offline all the time, at least on the device that I entered the task).

Please fix this or at least point me in the right direction, because requiring Internet connection just to receive a stupid reminder is a major disadvantage to me as a Premium user, especially when compared with the competition :)

Hello,

That's incorrect. With our latest updates, push-reminders are fully operated by the Android app itself. You can add a reminder offline, be offline when it arrives and it will arrive as the app will generate it locally.

You only need to connect in a situation such as - you add the reminder on the web and never sync the Android app, in which case it won't have the information that a certain task should have a reminder assigned to it.

David

Hm, I seem to have the newest version of the app (no updates show up in Play Store). But it doesn't seem to work as you described: it's 7:30 AM, I create a task due at 8:00 AM with a reminder at 7:50 AM. It's 8:20 AM now and no reminder was produced whatsoever (phone didn't ring, no notification in the notifications bar).

Of course the above test was performed when I was completely offline.
I did a similar test when being online and the push arrived correctly.

Hello,

Please try to add a task with no due date and one reminder with a date and time a few minutes into the future.

Best regards,
David

We'll release version 3.0.6 of our Android app soon, let us know if the issue will persist there as well.
