Latest updates remove reminders

SM

I have a number of recurring tasks with reminders set. After the first major update this week they all disappeared. I carefully added them back and after today's update they're gone again!

Hello Susan,

Please tell me:
- What are the exact due dates of the tasks (a few examples) affected by this?
- What type of reminders did you use (before deadline or set to a specific date)?
- What was the delay or date/time of the reminders (1-2 examples would do)?

Best regards,
David

I'm seeing something similar to this as well.

I have tasks which I want a mobile reminder 30 minutes prior to the due time, if I view the web app then the reminders are clearly displayed however no reminders are present in the Android app.

To see if this was an issue with the update where my data got a little screwy I cleared all data from the App and relogged in. Now the tasks correctly show reminders. However these tasks repeat and when I complete the task the reminder disappears from the task.

In order to get reminders correctly I'm having to reset the app and relogin every day, this is getting old fast.

David:

*Due date examples

- every Thurs at 9am
- after 30 days @ 9am starting jan 28
- every 2 days at 5pm starting today
There was also one nonrecurring example: today at 5pm

*All reminders were set to be a certain time before the deadline

*Delay was set to 30 minutes in all cases (I think)

Have reset all the reminders for my recurring tasks, but once a task occurs and is checked off as completed, the reminder disappears. This is totally unacceptable in an app that costs this much!

I noticed that in the changelog for the release this morning and added the reminders back to the appropriate tasks. So far so good but I'll let you know tomorrow if all is well or not.

Well it looks like this is only partly working.

After the update yesterday I added a new recurring task (EV day at 5:30 pm) with a 0 min reminder. I received the reminder correctly and when I marked it done, the task moved to today with the reminder intact ... yay!

I then went in and edited all my old tasks to add their reminders back.

Today, alas, all the reminders are gone except for the one attached to the new task that I added yesterday :(

So this seems to be working for newly added tasks but I've lost even more functionality on existing ones. At least before the reminders stayed until the next occurrence.

SImilar behaviour for me, of the five daily task I have with reminders (30 mins before due time) only two had the reminders repeat until today. The three others the reminders disappeared. All these are existing tasks, including the ones that the reminders stayed intact.

So it's better but still not fixed. Using version 3.1.2.

Hi,

I know it's not a great suggestion, but if you could remove Todoist from all locations, your mobile, browser extensions, etc. Clear the cache for all browsers (chrome and safari for desktop apps). Clear data for Android, log out and uninstall on iOS.. Making sure its' completely gone from everywhere, then go to your Todoist.com settings, remove any devices listed in the Settings area. Then, re-login, re-install one by one.

This shouldn't be needed, but we have seen this help some people.

Regards,
Brendon.

Well, I went through the steps as described by Brendan on 16 Feb and now I have NO REMINDERS ANYWHERE. Here is what I did (documented as I did it):

1. On phone and tablet (both Android):
- logged out
- cleared app data
- uninstalled
- rebooted

2. On web (Chrome browser):

- deleted multiple reminders (apparently every time I've added them back in Android, they have "taken" on the web). Interestingly the “test” item I had added via tablet when this reminder issue started happening did not have a reminder on the web.

- logged out of Todoist

- cleared cache

3. Logged back in on the web and removed all devices.

4. Reinstalled on mobile, logged in. Reminders were there. Added reminder to “test” item - it then showed up on the web.

5. Reinstalled on tablet, logged in. Reminders were there (including for “test” item).

6. Powered off mobile, powered back on - reminders still there.

7. Powered off tablet, powered back on - NO REMINDERS.

At some point between steps 6 and 7, ALL REMINDERS FROM EVERYWHERE DISAPPEARED!!!!! None on the mobile, none on the tablet, none on the web.

What do you recommend now?

(FWIW I have added the reminders back via the web - but I have no confidence at all that this will help. And even if it does, it's not good enough ... I rarely use Todoist on the web.)

Have the same problem over and over again. Starting to irritate me more and more. Using it for family (5 paid users) and office purposes but cannot rely on it completely when this was one of the major key arguments to purpose the paid version.

Using it on Android, Ipad and Chrome but have to check too many times during the day if Todoist is performing properly.

Please make sure that this (specific) paid feature is working well. As many others I'm willing to help and be patient as I understand this has been a major change within Todoist but patience isn't infinitive.

I'm also having issues with reminders and did the following test:

1) Cleared the cache

2) Added a new task, due: today @ 12:45
Checked under reminders and it showed a mobile notification 30 minutes before
Got reminder on phone 30 mins before as expected.
Snoozed this reminder
Did NOT receive reminder at the time the task was due

3) At the same time as I added the task above, I added another new task, due: today
Manually added reminder for 12:52 today
Did NOT receive this reminder

In the main task list, both items showed the clock icon indicating there's a reminder set, but now I've passed the times they were due, the clock icons are not present, suggesting that the app has "lost" the reminder setting.

After examining, I am experiencing the same problem as the others. When my android device powers down, my reminders are deleted. I turn off my android device at night, so this was most likely the cause of the reminders disappearing overnight.

Notably, the reminders remained in the web app until I turned the device back on.

Michael, regarding the snoozing issue, please tell me:
- Did you reset the phone in the meantime? If so, the snooze won't work;
- Did you complete the task in the meantime? If so, the notification won't appear, since the task is already completed.

@David:
No, I neither reset the phone or completed the task. I set up a couple of dummy tasks just to confirm that reminders weren't working.

Because I didn't snooze the task for 10 mins or so after it prompted me, I actually got a reminder, presumably based on the 'snooze' some 10 mins after the time the task was due.

David Trey staff

Michael,

No, if you would set the task less than 30 minutes into the future, the reminder which would then already be past due would not arrive and unless you manually add another one to "0 minutes before", then the 30 minutes before will not arrive at the task's due date only, as it says, 30 minutes before this date. In this case, it would only be sent exactly at 11:45 - 30 minutes before 12:15

Best regards,
David

So nobody is having any issues with reminders anymore? I uninstalled the Android app and my Mac app, but reminders keep disappearing. When I add a reminder in the Mac app, it'll remain there until the Android app syncs with / overwrites it. When I create a reminder in the Android app, it disappears as soon as "added" appears in my screen.

I like to use laptop in addition to Android app. I just purchased your premium ToDoist so I can use notes attachments labels tags etc. I need to be able to sort the tasks in due date order (I have been using the Projects sections for each list) And Also - i have a problem because i have a daily recurring task that i have crossed off once and the task stays at the top of the list with the new due date as tomorrow but i think "Oh, I have done that so I check it off again and then the due date goes to wednesday. I would like to know if there is a way to get daily recurring tasks to just appear for the next day. I think by eliminating it from my today view would resolve this as i would not have it there to be able to try to cross it off twice. hope that makes sense. please help, as it looks like ToDoist will be a very useful tool for me. Hello Jacqueline,

You can quickly reorder your tasks by date in a project by entering this project and hitting the "s" key. Using "p", you can reorder them by priority.

As for recurring tasks - that's the correct behavior, if you have a task due "every day", you see it below "today", you check it off and it goes to the "tomorrow" section. Please clarify what behavior would you prefer? You don't have to check it off again in tomorrow, when tomorrow comes, it will become "today" so that you can check it off every day as you complete it.

Best regards,
David
