Widget is wasting space

U

I have a filter like that

(@privat & today) | (@privat & @next) | (@arbeit & today) | (@arbeit & @next) | (@arbeit & overdue) | (@privat & overdue)

which I use for a widget on my Nexus 4. About a third of the space on the screen is wastet with the definition of the filter.

How can I get rid of this. The name of the Filer "Heute/Überfällig" is what I expected.

Hello Uwe,

This is caused by the fact that you don't use any commas in the filter. Commas are used to separate certain sections of the query. Without them, the results are under one combined header listing everything you want to see - the entire query.

That said, please change the filter query to:

(@privat & today), (@privat & @next), (@arbeit & today), (@arbeit & @next), (@arbeit & overdue), (@privat & overdue)

and you will see:

(@privat & today),
Tasks that meet the criteria

(@privat & @next)
Tasks that meet the criteria

and so on.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I stick to the first one.

Use case:

I have tasks that are @privat and @arbeit due today (this is only one example). With my filter, these tasks are only once in the filter list. With your example, this tasks are under sections

@privat & today

and

@arbeit & today

cluttering my list.

The space wasted is a minor problem to me, so I will continue to use my filter variant.

Hi David,

one addition. The "comma" feature is not mentioned on the german support site. Is it listed on the english site and if, how do I get there and if not, why not? :-)

Uwe,

The comma is mentioned in multiple examples on this page: https://todoist.com/Help/Filtering see:
- heute, morgen, Fr
- (heute, überfällig) @home
- (heute, überfällig) & @home
- (überfällig, 7 Tage) & priority 1

Based on your example, you can still use my suggestion without having tasks showed twice. To do so, use this version of the query:

(@privat | @arbeit) & today, (@privat & @next), (@arbeit & @next), (@arbeit | @privat) & overdue

This will group private and work related tasks that are due today, and at the end - private and work related tasks the are overdue and generate only 4 sections :)

Best regards,
David

Uwe,

In fact, you can even narrow it down to 3 sections if you use:

(@privat | @arbeit) & today, (@privat | @arbeit) & @next, (@arbeit | @privat) & overdue

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

beginning to understand the concept of the queries, I choose:

(@arbeit | @privat) & overdue, (@arbeit | @privat) & today, (@arbeit | @privat) & @next

Thank you. Regarding the header of the widget, I have made a suggestion in the android vote box.
