Collaboration

Where can I find how to collaborate details?

Is there a cost for other collaborators?

How do I add collaborators?

Use case:

How can a collaborator just use the web?

Can they create an account and just use the web?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Forrest,

Sharing is available for everyone, and there is no extra cost. You can share projects from mobile, the web or any other platform. All you need to do is right click a project and choose "Share Project" from the web. The mobile apps will have menus in different areas. Android has the 3 dots at the top right corner, once on the project you want to share.

Regards,
Brendon.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do I share via email?

Does the collaborator need a TD account.

Is there an FAQ or some more details for me to learn about the finer points?

Forrest,

It's all within the app right now. As mentioned above, it's quite simple to get started, just right click, Share. Once a project is shared, you can assign tasks to people within the creation process. Yes, the other people need to have a TD account for it to work.

Right now we don't have any exact FAQ on it, but this page will be updated with more information. https://next.todoist.com/Help

Brendon.

I make a quick test and collab is excellent.

It is not clear to me...when one person updates or changes or adds a task...does TD show what has been updated so that I only need to look at the updates. Or, please guide me.
Thanks once more for the assistance.

Forrest,

There is a Bell Icon (notification icon) that shows any new updates or changes to a task that has been shared with someone or you.

Regards,
Brendon.

Brendon, I find that the collaboration is getting messed up in the Android app. I keep losing collaborators. I tried logging out and back in, deleting all my projects, then adding them, but I could not keep my collaborations Clean. when I went to the website, all my collaborations were correct. So the website, which is correct and the app, which is not do not agree. Are there any fixes for this, other than strictly using the Website?

Hello,

Thank you for your report. In order to fix this, we'd need to be able to recreate this situation at least once. That said, assuming that clearing the app's cache didn't help, please tell me - did you notice any pattern to it? That is - did you lose collaborators after syncing or after assigning someone to a task etc.?

Also, what exactly do you mean by losing collaborators - did the invited people not show up on the list of collaborators, or did people assigned to tasks not show up next to these tasks, but the list itself was correct?

Best regards,
David

It usually triggered after I added the same person to ANOTHER project. The app lost track of that person's involvement in other projects. All looked fine on the website, but initially, I tried to add that person back to the original project. They never got an invitation, so I deleted their involvement, which obviously triggerred a notice. Then I RE-added them. As soon as they got the invitation, I would see my own name appear as a collaborator, and them as invited (as you'd expect). They would then accept the invitation, and it would look fine -- for awhile. This also occured when I added a sub-project and tried to share - it blew away all my other collaborations, as far as the app was concerned. Again, the web was correct.

Incidentally, I forgot to clear the cache - worth a shot. I just tried it, and the collaboration is still incorrect.

Please try to create a new project (or recreate the old one), invite the person to it only once (using the correct email address of their existing Todoist account) and let me know if the issue still occurs in this new project.

Best regards,
David

Already done. I deleted all my projects, re-created them with slightly different names to make sure nothing from the previous projects"bled over, " but the results were similar.

Oh, that would be terrific. I'm just getting started on the package, and I see huge potential. Really nicely structured, and fits well with my own work style. I'm cheering for you guys!
