Recurring Task issue with Overdue

JV

Hi, I have to complete my timesheeta for everyday that needs to be done everyday, so I setup a recurring task.

if however, i forget to do it on the Tuesday as an example, it carries over to the Wednesday as expected....However, i still need to complete the one from the Tuesday and also the one for the Wednesday....

But Todoist, seems to close both the overdue one and the Wednesday one 7 generates the Thurs....Is there anyway to stop this.

Hello John,

That's the expected behaviour, if you have an overdue task that you've missed, completing it will move its due date to the next available occurrence. In case of a daily task, that would be tomorrow.

That said, please check such task off only when you've caught up and finished its today's instance.

Best regards,
David

Interesting, Other Task Managers I have used, dont do this, they treat each recurrance as a seperate task, so the overdue one would sit in overdue til ticked, then that days would then appear ...potentially closing the same task twice in one day...

John,

The way Todoist treats recurring tasks allows you to not have to check off a missed task multiple times. If it's a task that actually can't be done multiple times if missed (such as making a phonecall), you don't have to perform any action on its past events that weren't really completed, you don't have to delete these instances or postpone them.

We understand that is some situations, some tasks could be completed multiple times if you miss one instance, but on such occasions, we do recommend to catch up with the task first and once its done also for today - then check it off.

Best regards,
David
