Date bug

When trying to add a task with a due date it automatically changes the date to the day after so all my tasks are delayed by a day. It only seems to happen for the end of October and beginning of November, with set dates and also recurring dates. I have tried to use different formats and also different browsers and platforms but I always get the same issue. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hello Laura,

Please make sure you have the same time zone set in Todoist as on all devices you're using it on.

Also, there's an issue which we're aware of that causes a date shift if the task is set to a date after the change from the Daylight Saving Time. We're looking into it now, sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

I have a similar problem to Laura. When I add a task using the android app for anytime on the 27th October or later it moves it forward a day however the web app shows the correct day and when into to edit it on the android app even though it appears as a day late in the schedule it says the correct date in the task edit page. All my timezones are set the same so its not that. It must be the DST bug. Hopefully you can get it sorted soon as it is really irritating having to use the mobile website instead of the app at the moment.

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the report. If you have checked your Todoist settings, and all devices settings for timezone, then it's most likely the issue we are aware of, and we are looking into it.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hello Andreas,

We're sorry for the inconvenience. We're looking into it, but we're suspecting that it's caused by the upcoming time change (end of the Daylight Saving Time) and once that happens, these tasks will adjust to the right date/time automatically.

Best regards,
David

I'm also having the same issue, I have added a task for Tuesday 29th October, but it displays Wednesday both in project view and the 7 day view on my Android phone even though when editing the item it shows the correct date and also displays correctly both on the web and the Mac app. I have also ensured that the time zones are set correctly on my Mac and the Android device.

How do you set the Time Zone to stay after choosing it in the drop down? It always defaults to Chicago time zone.

It does not look like this issue has been fixed. Getting emails showing that the task is due a day later than what is entered.

Hello Ronit,

Please clarify - are you referring to the Daily Digest mails or email reminders?

Either way, please try to change your Todoist account's timezone, then go back to the settings, change it back again and let us know if this will help.

David

Hi David,

My colleague noticed this issue. She checked that the time zones are
correct on all of her devices, and we just tested it again. I assigned a
task to her, which is due on 5/31. In tasks on her phone app it appears
correctly as 5/31, but in the notification email from Todoist the date
indicated is 6/1. This is the third time now we have done this, and always
in the email, it shows a the due date as a day later. Please look into
this and let us know if it can be fixed.

Ronit,

Could you please clarify if you're referring to the notification you get when a task is assigned or the Daily Digest email?

If it's the Daily Digest mail, please try to opt out of these mails in Todoist's Settings -> Account, then change the time zone and change it back again. After that, opt-in for the Digest and see if it helps.

David

Ronit,

Unfortunately, we're still unable to reproduce this issue :-( We've tried to assign tasks to each other and always got the correct due date in the email.

Please tell me, what date are you entering exactly? Is it "5/31" or any other format such as "today", "31 May" or are you using Todoist in a different language than English?

David

Ronit,

Unfortunately, it's extremely difficult to identify such issue if we can't trigger it even once and so far it still never happened to us no matter what we try :-(

Typically, it would seem like a standard issue caused by incorrect time zones. Even if it's a time zone 1 hour off, we've seed situations in which it affected the date of the task by 1 days, but if you're certain that all time zones within Todoist's setting in all your Todoist apps are correct then we're unsure what else it could be.

Nonetheless, we'll keep looking into it.

Best regards,
David

When I update tasks scheduled in days past to Today using the Change Date feature, the option shows today's date but in effect it updates to the date that's two days ago. Eg. today is the 6th, the Change Date option displays Today 06 correctly, the update effectively updates to the 4th, which is incorrect.

Hi,

Can you reliably reproduce this behaviour? I just tested this and it worked fine for me. Can you maybe give me the steps that you do to replicate the issue?

Clyde

I tested again last night and it was still there, but 5 minutes later it was working fine. And now in the morning, the bug is back; Today option now moves the task one day back to yesterday instead of to two days before. The same with the Tomorrow option, it would move it one day back to Today.

To replicate it; on any task, use the Change Date button (the calendar icon) that provides dating shortcut to Today, Tomorrow, Next week, In a Month, etc.... Select Today or Tomorrow and the bug can be seen. I'm on Samsung S5

Hello L,

I've tested this also now with multiple overdue tasks and can't reproduce this at all.

That said, please let us know:
- What was the original due date of this task (as you've typed it in when you've created it)?
- How exactly are you changing the date, that is - from what view (project, 7 days, filter) and where exactly do you tap? There are 2 options to change a date - tap on task, choose "Schedule" or choose "Edit" and then use the calendar (I've tested both, though, and they work correctly)?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Just tested and it's still happening.

One Eg. of original due date is "every day @ 8p". However, I think the original due date does not matter because it happens to every task; doesn't matter if it's repeating, with specified time and date or with date only.

It happens when I use "Schedule" and "Edit" to select "Today" or "Tomorrow".
As for "In a month", according to today's date 7th July, it will change to 6th August (is it correct or should be 7th August?).
There is no issue with "Next week", "Postpone, Tomorrow" and "Pick date".

It happens in view Inbox, Today, Next 7 Days, Projects, Labels and Filters.
That would be all views.

While in Today view, touching the + sign would add a task to Today in Inbox by default. It would add the new task to Yesterday as well.

L,

Please clarify this part:

"It happens when I use "Schedule" and "Edit" to select "Today" or "Tomorrow"."

That's not possible as once you use Schedule, there is no "Edit" option only "Pick date" if you want to select it manually. Do you mean that it happens if you select either "Schedule" and then "Today" or "Edit" and then "Today" after tapping on the small calendar icon?

Either way, I can't reproduce this under any circumstance. Please make sure that both your device as well as Todoist (in the Settings) are set to the correct time zone and also try to reinstall the app.

Best regards,
David

Yes, this was what I meant.

Time zone is set to the same on all devices; Windows Chrome, iOS and Android.

I will try reinstalling the app.

Accessing application via web. Chrome browser.

Repro steps:
Create task via '+' icon at upper right corner.
Set due date to 'tomorrow.'
Save task.
Edit task.
Set due date to today.
Save task.
All looks well.
Refresh and .... the due date is back to tomorrow.

This presents a challenge when trying to shift things in and plan your evenings activities.

Hi Marcus,

Can you create a recording for this? The instructions are great but there are multiple ways to interpret them. For example, how did you set the due date to today?

1. do you right click on it and select the "Today" icon?
2. do you enter the "tod" or "today" in the due date field?
3. do you pick it from the calendar?

I've tried replicating the problem using the steps you've provided but I don't get the same problem as you do.

Clyde

Again with more gusto ---
[unable to make recording]

1. Click '+' (quick add task)
2. Type task name
3. Click date field
4. Click 'sunset' (tomorrow)
5. Click 'add task' to complete task creation
task appears in tomorrows list
viewing Next 7 days (highlight shown in left panel)
6. Click *** (3 dots) to the right of the task (task is in Tomorrow Section of right panel)
7. Click 'calendar' icon (change date to today)
task now appears in 'Today' section
Now you have a choice
A. Refresh your browser
B. Click TD logo in upper left corner
both yield task moving back down to 'Tomorrow' section
