V2,0 Crashes on start

AK

Every time I try to start it it seems to try to load my tasks for a few seconds and then crashes. I tried re-installing Todoist, as well as doing a factory reset on the phone - no luck. The beta version worked fine.
My start page is "today | overdue | p1 | p2 | p3"
Samsung Galaxy S3
Android 4.1.2

Hello Alex,

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue. Please tell me - are you using a custom ROM? Do you actually use version 2.0 or our app or the updated 2.0.1? Please make sure that you have 2.0.1 as it addresses some important issues.

Best regards,
David

It is a v2.0.1.
I am using a custom ROM based on stock Touchwiz, so I understand if you blame it on that. Thing is, the previous version of TD and the beta of v2.0 worked fine on it. But if you can't duplicate it, and I am the only one with such issue, it must be the rom.
Thanks for your help.

Alex,

Unfortunately, it's most likely the Touchwiz as we've also had another report from a user with Touchwiz who had an issue with the display of icons after each update and in his case, it affected pretty much all apps, not just ours so we have reasons to believe that this introduces some modifications to Android which change some standards.

We will look into it and see if this issue is also related to it, but unfortunately, we must primarily stick to the general Android standards as some ROMs may modify them to the point where we couldn't keep up adding different methods for any parts of code that will work well with any ROM :(

Best regards,
David

I understand. I would not expect you to troubleshoot all the custom ROMs out there.

David, it might not be ROM after all. I got it to work by changing the start page from "today | overdue | p1 | p2 | p3" to "today, overdue, p1, p2, p3". So it appears to me that there is some sort of issue with Boolean queries.

Alex,

Thanks for that bit of information. With that we have been able to reproduce this and have let the developers know about it. It could still be related to the ROM, as not all devices do this.

There should hopefully be a fix soon.

Thanks,
Brendon.

My wife has the same issue: after Todoist added the fantastic collaboration function, I have invited her to share a project, and from that link she installed the app on her S3. She opened the app, logged in, but the app crashed. If you try to open it again, it crashes again. I'll try changing her start page from the web version like Alex suggested, but there's no custom ROM involved this time, it' 100% original Android 4.3. Hope this helps.

Hello Jan,

We have now released an updated version 3.0.4 of our Android app. Please ask your wife to delete the current app and install the new version and let us know if the issue still persists.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,
we have updated the app to the latest version but the issue is still there. I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall, but no change: once she logs in, the "loading wheel" appears for a second, starts rotating, but suddenly stops and the app crashes. It's important to say that she didn't have a todoist account before, I have invited her from my account to share a project and from that email she received she started the registration process. The web based application works fine.
Kind regards,
Jan

Jan,

We do have one more question - in what language are you and your wife using Todoist and your phones?

Best regards,
David
