How to make Todoist part of my notification bar?

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't there a way to keep Todoist in your notification bar in past or currently?

Also, I thought Todoist push-notifications used to allow you to complete and postpone tasks from within the notification bar directly?

Is this still possible to enable?

Hello Zachary,

Please enter the app's Settings -> Notifications and make sure that they're on as well as the Quick Add notification widget. All features you've mentioned are still available if switched on. Interactive push notifications are only available on Jelly Bean.

Best regards,
David

I enabled the quick-add notification widget, but still don't see the interactive features available to me, but I'm running Jelly Bean 4.1.1

Please advise.

Zachary,

Which device are you using currently? And do you have any custom ROMs installed?

Please try logging out of the app, go into the Application Settings area, and clear the data for Todoist. Then log back in. See if that resolves the issue.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Tried the above (logged out, cleared app data and logged back in) and that didn't solve it.

I don't believe I am using an custom ROMs - can you give me an example/explain what these are?

I'm on an HTC DNA.

Thanks

Zachary,

Custom ROM's are a version of the Android OS built by pretty much anyone with changes made to it, whatever they'd like, improvements, with the source code of the original Android OS. If you don't know the term then you aren't running one :)

I am trying to confirm, but have been unable to, but I believe you need to be on 4.1.2 or higher to receive the interactive options. 4.1 brought a more detailed notification area, but 4.1.2 brought the interactive options.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Weird....I'm pretty sure I recall having the interactive options in the notification bar in the past....Are you sure?

Zachary,

I believe I have confirmed that I was wrong, and it's been since 4.1. Sorry about the confusion.

You say you recall having these options, what has changed on your system to make you question this? Did you run an update, add or remove any apps?

Do any of your other apps have these options, are they working currently?

Thanks,
Brendon.

None of my other apps have these options.

I have downloaded a large number of apps in the last several months, so it would probably be difficult to pin-point if its an app that's causing this issue.

The only app that I could think may be interfering is the "Notification Toggle" app - but I removed it and still encounter the issue with Todoist.

I haven't run any updates that I'm aware of.

Zachary,

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this. Reminders include a "complete", "postpone" and "snooze" function" and the TD icon shows in the notifications area, if notifications are switched on.

Please make sure that aside from the notification settings, you switch them on in general, that is - at the top of the Notification settings in the top-right corner using the on/off switch.

Also, when you receive a reminder, is it for a task that has a due date or not? If not, then such reminder may not have these options if there's no due date to postpone.

Best regards,
David

The notifications option is switched on.

The reminds are for tasks that do have a due date as well.

Zachary,

Please clarify, when you say none of your other apps have these options, do you mean they aren't built with the options yet, or they aren't working as well?

As David said, unfortunately we are unable to reproduce this issue and it should be working.

When is the last time you have done a factory reset on your device? As in reset it to default. I am not asking you to do this, but it can give me information on how old the install is, and it could indeed be another app. Do you happen to use the app AppBrain? If you do, it can give you a list of all your apps installed (once synced with the web version), you can then share that we me, and I can see if there are any apps installed that could cause problems, and I can test them as well.

I would also suggest (before doing the above) removing our app, restarting the phone, and then installing the app again.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Zachary,

As Brendon mentioned, we unfortunately can't reproduce this. This is what we see when receiving a notification and below - the Quick Add feature:

Does your notification look similar, but without the interactive options? Could you please send a screenshot to david@todoist.com and brendon@doist.io if deleting and reinstalling the app won't help?

Best regards,
David

Zachary,

After looking at your email you sent we unfortunately are still unable to figure out what is the cause.

This is the first time we have heard reports of this happening. Going through your application list, the only thing that might cause problems is NotifierPro, but that is doubtful.

To test if it is our app or the system, please send yourself an email with Gmail, the Gmail app for Android has interactive abilities, if it doesn't work then we know it's the system.

Sorry for the troubles.

Thanks,
Brendon.

It's really strange...

The interactive notifications don't work for Todoist or Gmail, however, they do in fact work for Any.do, another task manager service.

Zachary,

Please try to disable any apps that may in any way either customize the notifications area or affect its functionality and if it helps, try to re-enable each of them one-by-one to see at what point the issue will reoccur and what app may cause it.

Best regards,
David

Just thought I would provide an update...

The interfering app was 2x Battery.

Hello Zachary,

Thank you very much for the update, it's good to know which app can cause this interference.
