Drag and Drop Crashes Continue post 1.2.8

Extremely uncomfortable with Todoist's 4 (!) replies in Google Play telling me and all that the issues I have reported have been fixed when they have not.

Now ToDoist wants me to reply here so Google Play viewers don't know that reordering projects or sub-projects in the latest update 1.2.8 STILL crashes my app.

Worse, after seemingly solving sync issues I suddenly now get completed and deleted tasks from 48 days ago.

Unacceptable.

As a courtesy, I am reporting this issue in this forum. If not immediately addressed however, it goes up in Google Play and then reported to Google.

Every app has issues. The problem is seemingly dishonest communication from a developer with customers. The last several days have cast a shocking and disappointing shadow over an otherwise terrific app.

Hi Thomas,

We are sorry you are experiencing these issues. We would only want you to reply here so that we can better help fix these issues.

Could you please clarify what you have tried and haven't? Have you deleted the data (in the Android Settings, app area)? Have you tried un-installing, and re-installing the app?

Does this happen in all views, or only one?

Thanks,
Brendon.

The problem appears to be mostly with projects that have sub-projects. Neither the project itself, nor any sub-projects below it can be moved without forcing the app to quit. Same goes for moving tasks within those projects or sub-projects.

The only place drag and drop for tasks works is within the Today view. Or week view. But not within my projects/sub-projects.

I have to assume all your tragedies of late came from the race to grab Astrid users and deliver the highly anticipated collapsible projects feature. Great feature save for all this fallout.

I run a pretty decent size media business with and for Google. Reliability and the ability to constantly change and rearrange projects on my phone is paramount . I really need Todoist to work like now or I have to resort to some lesser but more reliable like Wunderlist. I really don't want to do that. Hope you can help.

Thomas,

Unfortunately, I am un-able to reproduce this issue.

Which version of Android are you running, do you have any custom ROMs?

How many sub projects do you have, tasks/sub tasks do you have? Do all of these (or how many) have files attached to them? Were they created in the Android app, or through the web version?

Also if you could clarify, you have cleared the data for the app as well as removing it and re-installing it? I know this is a lot to ask a user, but it could help.

I know this is a lot of questions, but it's the best way for us to figure out how to fix it :)

Thanks,
Brendon.

Running Android 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Note 2. No custom ROMs.

I have 3 main projects (Life Arenas), each with 3 or 4 sub-projects (Sub-Arenas). Each of those 12 or so sub-projects have 0 to 10 additional sub-projects.

In other words, my major projects and sub-projects have no tasks of their own. Rather they work like folders or tabs to keep everything else out of view.

It's the sub-sub-projects that have all the tasks and subtasks.

Everything was created in the app. I live by the phone and not the web desktop.

I have reinstalled the app numerous times with all the updates. Frankly I cannot afford all this time going and back and forth to figure out your app.

Hi Thomas,

I believe I have been able to reproduce this problem. I have let the developers know about it, and hopefully there will be an update very soon.

Sorry for the troubles.

Thanks,
Brendon.

OK. By the way, every time I re-install or sign in, the same task dated April 25 always returns--despite repeatedly checking it off or deleting it. Nothing seems to work. What's up with that?

Hi Thomas,

Is this task a sub-task of another? Does it show as crossed out when you check it off, or does it disappear right away?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Shows up as an overdue task. Not crossed off. Don't know if it's in a subproject because I've deleted it. Sure it will pop up again unfortunately.

Hello Thomas,

Please tell me - does this one overdue task show up only through the Android app or also if you access your account through the web?

Also, please let us know what the name of the task is so we can check on our end if there are any technical issues with this element. For privacy reasons, you can send the name of the task to david@doist.io

Best regards,
David

This one overdue task shows up in both the Android app and the Web. Whenever I sign off and sign in. I have sent the specifics to the email above.

The drag & drop issue should now be fixed in version 1.2.10. Please update to this version when you receive the update in the PlayStore.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Excellent. It works. I will upgrade my review with solution of below.

However, I am still suffering from the reappearance of an old completed and deleted task as detailed in the email you requested.

I seem to have gotten ridden of the recurring deleted task by deleting the entire subproject it was part of--aftet moving the other tasks to the new subproject I created.

Perhaps this issue was related to the subproject reordering issue.

I will see if this task pops up again! But I have signed out and in and so far so good.
