Hi Peter,

Are all your completed tasks showing on the android app, or is it just one or two re-appearing. Do these completed tasks show up on the web version as well, and do they show up as overdue, striked out completed, or?

What version of Android are you running, different ROM, root? Also, make sure you are running the latest version of our app from the Play Store.

Please try logging out and back in again of the app and see if that resolves the issue.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Just the most recently completed were showing.

Version 1.1.3

Andriod 4.1.2

Log off log back in got them off of my screen. Is that the only
way or am I doing something wrong with my phone?

Regardless ... love the app. What would I get if I upgraded to the premium?

The recently completed tasks show for a bit of time, but should go away after a bit. Sometimes it can get stuck in the cache and logging out will fix that, or wiping the cache manually.

If you log into Todoist.com and at the top right corner click on the "gear" icon, there is a link to all the details about Todoist Premium. You get things like notes, backups, reminders and much more.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I have the same problem. Using Version 1.1.3 and Android 2.3.6.

Using the refresh button does not help. Going out and into the app again doesn't help. Logging out and in again DOES help, but is this really the only way it works? It's a bit of a hassle to do this every time.

I do love the app and the webbased version (al though I am still waiting for the option to give an end date to repetitive tasks!!!), but this problem is really annoying, so I hope there's a better solution than logging out and in every time the problem comes up (which is daily).

Thanks!

Harmien,

As Brendon mentioned - completed tasks are displayed for a while after completion giving you the option to un-complete them if necessary. Please try to wait for a short while after you complete them and they should disappear without having to log out and back in.

Best regards,
David

I don't mind waiting 'a while' but sometimes it's a few DAYS until a task completely disappears. It just makes the app a lot less practical to use. Are you working on this problem or is it going to stay like this?

Hermien,

These task should not be there for days. Please clarify:
- Are you referring to the Android app itself or the widget?
- Are these parent tasks or sub-tasks?

David

I'm referring to the Android app.
I assume these are parent tasks: they fall 'right below' the projects.

Hermien,

Projects are the elements on the left side, parent tasks should not appear as below any other task, if they're slightly intended to the right side below other tasks (when you view them within a project), then they're indeed sub-tasks in which case, they stay on the list until their parent task is completed.

Please try to access your Todoist account through https://todoist.com to make sure it they're parent of sub-tasks. On the web, parent tasks have an arrow on the left side to collapse/expand child tasks.

David

I did not literally mean 'below' (hence, the apostrophes), so ignore that.

I only use parent tasks, never sub-tasks. So it's the parent tasks that are the problem in my app.

Hermien,

Thank you for the clarification. I have one more question - do you use any custom ROMs of Android or installed the app on an SD card? Also, are you usually on- or offline when you mark tasks as completed?

David

I don't use custom ROMs and I did not install the app on an SC card.

When I'm on my laptop, I'm always online when I use todoist. But as far as I can remember, the problem only occurs when I mark things as done on my app. I'm not sure whether that is online or offline (or if there even is a difference when it comes to the app)

Hermien,

Unfortunately, we still can't reproduce this issue. I've just marked some tasks as completed on the 1.1.3 version of the app and the Android version you're using and when I check it off, it stays grayed our with a strikethrough as long as I stay within the project. When I go to a different project and then back to the project in which I've completed it - it's gone.

Can you reproduce this same situation (that is - complete the task using the "Complete" button (not the swipe gesture) while you're in a project, then enter a different project and go back and see if it's still there)?

Best regards,
David

Dear David,

I tried what you asked (didn't even know you could swipe away a task!) and, sure, it works this time. However, an hour ago I still had a completed, strikken/struck through in my list that I completed two days ago.

When I complete tasks (by using the button) in my app, I almost always do that while I'm on the 'Today - view'. I usually don't go into a project to complete a task, that wouldn't make sense for the way I use the app.

The thing is that the problem comes up regularly, but definitely not with all my completed tasks. But I don't see what the difference is between the two. I don't think I do anything differently.

What I could do is to be very aware of my use of the app and report the problem again the next time it occurs, but then i'll try to keep track of what I did a bit better.

Cheers,
Hermien

Hermien,

Thank you for this information. It would indeed be very helpful if you could find a pattern to this issue - if there's anything that the tasks that stay completed on the list have in common, it would point us to what may cause this issue (for example - do these tasks have all the same label or are all from one project or have the same due date formula etc.).

We will of course also continue to try to reproduce this problem, but there are many combinations of different properties of a task and there might be a rare bug triggered only in certain specific circumstance so knowing if there's a pattern to it, would be a big step towards fixing it.

Best regards,
David
